Pre Production Planning - Applying Genre and Media Language to the Final Idea

Genre

Our film's genre is a comedy. We will communicate meaning through a variety of camera shots and angles. Our final idea is about a brother and sister who become Internet sensations after creating a You Tube channel, to document pranks that they continuously play on each other.

We have created a short prank survey where people could decide on the pranks that they would like to see in our film. The results are shown below.

Our target audience is 16-25 year olds. This demographic is around the age of our actors and we feel that this type of film would be appealing to this audience. Through a family relationship, we have created two similar characters who will try and get revenge on each other. Our pranks are designed to be funny as well as clever in the way we present them. We have discussed in length our pranks and understand each one will take time to plan, some more than others.

We have taken inspiration from the You Tube channel PrankvsPrank.

Media language

We will use a variety of shots to portray the close bond between the brother and the sister, such as many Shot Reverse Shots and 2 shots. Their fame is created through uploading onto You Tube and we have shown their views and subscribers increasing very quickly over a few weeks of uploading.

To create this we will use many post-production techniques. We will then use many CU's of both characters to show their facial expression and reaction to them effectively becoming famous overnight. 2 shots will be used quite often to express their close connection and we will change the characters costume to show the passing of time.

  1. This is very superficial.
The point of this is for alter when you prepare for the exam.

Media Langauge is about all 4 areas of film language for instance and how they work. You need to provide examples of how these communicate meaning.

Genre - again, you need detailed examples of key scenes.
