Prank Survey Results

We have collected our results and have seen the most popular choices for us to film, the most popular prank is the typical jumping out on someone, this is easy for us to film and can be effective in opening the short film. The following three pranks have the same amount of votes, firstly is placing a scary mask in someones bed and waiting for them to get scared, this will be a good prank to do as it will be done at night rather than throughout the day where most of the pranks will take place, this adds diversity to the piece and ensures not all the shots look the same. Secondly is switching the salt and sugar around which again is a simple prank for us to do and will be effective in our piece. Thirdly is to place an air horn behind a door and wait for a loud nose and the jumping character. The second batch of results got the same amount of votes, firstly is to be a chair, this could be difficult depending how our chairs work, we could possibly hide under the cushions and when someone sits down jump back up shocking them and making them jump around. Secondly is to mix soy sauce and sprite to create "coke" this would trick the character into  drinking a horrible drink and a close up should be used to catch their reaction.

The head in a jar in a  fridge prank idea and the rainbow windscreen idea got very small votes we may film these in case they look good in our piece and if required make the short film more versatile.

After creating the survey we decided on another prank we wanted to put in which was prank the character into washing their hair with glue rather than shampoo, we would see one character pouring glue into the shampoo bottle and then him placing it back, we then rather than seeing the other characters reaction we would still see the first  character but hear the second character screaming.

  1. I think that you will need to do quite a lot of practicing in class beforehand. Dopn't film these all in ELS - you have an opportunity to use a lot of clever continuity editing and variety of shots - i.e. water in a bucket over a door filmed from a birds eye view, and so on! Opening something, where camera inside records the horror on someones face - possible with the head in the fridge as well.
